MARION COUNTY, Fla. – A Marion County man has been sentenced to 34 years in prison for a fatal DUI crash that claimed the life of a 46-year-old man in 2018.

58-year-old Douglas M. Williams Jr. was found guilty of DUI manslaughter, vehicular homicide, and other related charges. The Honorable Judge Peter M. Brigham handed down the sentence, which includes 17 years on each of the two most serious counts, to be served consecutively.

The charges stem from a December 2018 crash in Ocala where Williams, driving under the influence of alcohol, ran a red light and struck another vehicle. The driver of that vehicle, Clifford Gerald Green, was killed, and his wife sustained serious injuries.

“The defendant’s decision to get behind the wheel while under the influence took a life and in so doing, destroyed a family,” said State Attorney Bill Gladson. “Driving under the influence is one of the most senseless and selfish crimes because it can be so easily avoided.”

Williams’ blood alcohol level was found to be .157, nearly twice the legal limit in Florida.
