OCALA, Fla. – A powerful explosion rocked the Classic Laundromat on NE 25th Avenue, injuring four individuals and causing significant damage to the building and surrounding shops.
Ocala Fire Rescue swiftly responded to the scene at 6:19 p.m., finding the single-story commercial structure engulfed in smoke and flames. Rescue crews immediately prioritized search and rescue efforts, ensuring all occupants were evacuated, while firefighters battled the blaze.

Two of the four injured individuals required hospitalization for further medical treatment. Their current condition remains unknown.
The explosion’s force rendered the laundromat and seven adjacent businesses inaccessible due to structural damage. Traffic along NE 25th Avenue was diverted as first responders worked to secure the area.

The cause of the explosion is currently under investigation by the State Fire Marshal’s Office and Ocala Fire Rescue Inspectors. While the exact cause remains unclear, preliminary findings suggest a possible gas leak may have been a contributing factor.
Multiple agencies, including Ocala Fire Rescue, Ocala Police Department, Ocala Electric Utility, Ocala Water Resources, Ocala Building Department, Marion County Fire Rescue, and TECO Gas, collaborated in the response effort.
