O.J. Simpson, the renowned football great and Hollywood actor who was acquitted of murdering his ex-wife and her friend but later convicted culpable in a separate civil trial, has died. He was 76.
Simpson’s attorney confirmed to TMZ that he died Wednesday night in Las Vegas. Simpson died following a battle with cancer, according to a message issued Thursday on his official X account.

“On April 10th, our father, Orenthal James Simpson, succumbed to his battle with cancer,” the family wrote on X on Thursday.
“He was surrounded by his children and grandchildren. During this time of transition, his family asks that you please respect their wishes for privacy and grace,” the statement said.
