Last week President Joe Biden went to the Mexican border — or somewhere close to it — and got a sanitized view of the chaos he’s created that’s unlikely to change any of his policies.
On the other hand, New York City Mayor Eric Adams visited the border on Sunday, and after getting a taste of the effects of illegal immigration that governors have dealt with, he’s ready to wave the white flag.
Reuters reported that while in El Paso, Adams, a Democrat, declared, “There is no room in New York,” which has long designated itself a “sanctuary city.”
Adams proclaimed that in response to the busloads of illegal immigrants being shipped to New York from Texas, Arizona, and elsewhere.

Ironically, according to The Blaze on Monday, Adams recently lamented that Colorado’s Democratic Gov. Jared Polis was now shipping illegals to New York as well.
“One time we had to deal with Republican governors sending migrants to New York,” he complained. “Now we’re dealing with Democratic governors sending migrants to New York.”
Adams also complained about Biden, saying “now is the time for the national government to do its job” about the influx of illegals entering the country.
On Sunday, Adams finally accepted Texas Republican Gov. Greg Abbott’s invitation to see the border. As The Blaze noted, Adams went there “to beg for help in tackling the fallout of the border crisis, suggesting that NYC may no longer be the sanctuary it was cracked up to be.”
Previously, Adams had denounced Abbott and threatened legal action against Texas.
As a mayoral candidate, Adams went full woke on the illegal immigration issue, not only vowing to maintain New York’s sanctuary city status but also pledging to allow illegal immigrants to vote in city elections.

The Blaze recalled that Adams declared a state of emergency after 61,000 illegals arrived in his city — a mere sliver of the hundreds of thousands that have poured across Texas’ border since Biden became president.
Despite the relatively low numbers New York receives compared to border states,
Adams once noted the rush of immigrants was affecting “every service we provide.”
“It’s going to impact education. It’s going to impact the dollars we use to clean our streets. It’s going to impact our public safety,” he said.
Reuters reported recently that New York officials said the city would spend as much as $2 billion to handle the load created by illegals, who are arriving from other states as governors like Abbott bus them to self-proclaimed sanctuary cities.
