A New York Democrat was forced to apologize on Monday after he claimed former President Donald Trump must be “eliminated” for his “dangerous” rhetoric.
Appearing on MSNBC on Sunday, Rep. Dan Goldman was commenting on Trump’s legal woes. Goldman, a former federal prosecutor, laughingly told anchor Jen Psaki that Trump’s “objective is purely political at this point” with the public statements he’s making about the validity of the cases against him.
“Politics don’t work in a courtroom, as he’s finding out,” Goldman continued.
“His rhetoric is really getting dangerous, more and more dangerous, and we saw what happened on Jan. 6, when he uses inflammatory rhetoric,” Goldman added.

The left-wing congressman then brought up a recent post Trump made on his social media platform, Truth Social.
Apparently that referred to last week when Trump “re-truthed” a user’s post that said his fantasy was to see New York Attorney General Letitia James and state Supreme Court Judge Arthur Engoron, the judge overseeing James’ dubious fraud cases against Trump, placed under “citizen’s arrest,” which is allowed in New York, for election interference and harassment.
Goldman, of course, did not comment on the blatant politicization of the case by James or Engoron.
But, he added of Trump, his post was “incredibly, incredibly scary for anyone that might be trying to work in government.”

“It is unquestionable at this point that that man cannot see public office again,” said Goldman, as Psaki nodded in agreement. “He is not only unfit, he is destructive to our democracy, and he has to be eliminated.”
Later on Monday, Goldman begrudgingly apologized for his own dangerous rhetoric toward Trump.
On Monday, Goldman posted on X (formerly Twitter), “Yesterday on TV, I mistakenly used the wrong word to express the importance for America that Donald Trump doesn’t become President again. While he must be defeated, I certainly wish no harm to him and do not condone political violence.”
“I apologize for the poor choice of words,” he added.
