A 53-year-old nurse in Florida has been arrested for stealing jewelry from a patient and pawning it off as her family jewels.
“Berline Rozin violated any level of trust that caretakers hold sacred by stealing from the most vulnerable people in her care,” said Martin County Sheriff’s Office.
Rozin, of Port St. Lucie, was caught pawning jewelry that she claimed belonged to her deceased mother, but deputies say the jewelry belonged to a patient she cared for at a Jensen Beach facility where she worked for nearly a year.

When confronted by detectives, the nurse changed her story but never revealed the truth.
Detectives, however, helped Rozin find that truth after they located the stolen jewelry at a pawn shop. Still, there is concern that this may not be her only victim.
MCSO Detectives are urging family members of patients she has cared for in the past, to check in on their loved ones and make sure all jewelry and valuables are accounted for.
If you have concerns, please call the Martin County Sheriff’s Office.
Berline Rozin was charged with grand theft from a victim over the age of 65. She does face additional charges if other victims come forward.
