Northeast High School Student Arrested for Online Threat: St. Petersburg Police

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – A student at Northeast High School in St. Petersburg has been arrested for making a threatening post on social media that implied a potential shooting at the school.

The 17-year-old 11th grader was taken into custody and charged with Written Threat to Kill or Conduct a Mass Shooting. The St. Petersburg Police Department acted swiftly upon learning of the threat Monday.

“St. Petersburg police make the safety of students a top priority and any weapon on campus, or other threat to school safety, will be thoroughly investigated,” said Ashley M. Limardo, St. Petersburg Police Department PIO. “This serves as a reminder to students that the police department takes these matters very seriously and the consequences could be severe.
