North Dakota School Board Goes “Woke” Ditching “Non-Inclusive” Pledge Of Allegiance

Apparently embracing “diversity” and “inclusion” doesn’t apply to religious Americans – in North Dakota, of all places.

The school board in Fargo, North Dakota, voted 7-2 recently to stop saying the Pledge of Allegiance at the start of its meetings, according to the website Inforum.com.

The reason: the words “under God.”

At the meeting where the board ended its resolution to recite the Pledge at each session, board member Seth Holden said “the Pledge of Allegiance didn’t align with the school’s diversity, equity, and inclusion values,” Inforum reported.

“Given that the word ‘God’ in the text of the Pledge of Allegiance is capitalized,” Holden told Inforum, “the text is clearly referring to the Judeo-Christian god, and therefore, it does not include any other face such as Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, all of which are practiced by our staff and students at FPS [Fargo Public Schools].”

“Even Atheists and Agnostics are excluded from the pledge, Holden added, saying it is a ‘non-inclusionary act,” Inforum reported.

According to Fox News, Holden further said, “The statement that we are ‘one nation under God,’ is the Judeo-Christian God… is simply an untrue statement. We are one nation under many or no gods.”

Fox reported that Holden further espoused his personal wokeness, calling it an “indisputable fact” that “not all U.S. citizens have liberty and justice… therefore making the line ‘one nation with liberty and justice for all’ an untrue statement.”

He added that “for many others” the Pledge is “a constant reminder of a lack of liberty… and a constant feeling of exclusion.”

Two board members said the panel should begin meetings by reciting one of the school district’s “values.”

It’s unclear which values they want to apply to those who believe in the God of the Pledge – who now surely feel excluded that a majority of the school board has framed them as bigots.

According to Inforum, the school district’s website says, “Education is better where schools are composed of students, teachers, and families drawn from diverse socio-economic backgrounds, cultures, ‘races’/ethnicities, religions, and sexual orientations.”
