Marcus Devon Dalton, a 30-year-old Guilford County man, was sentenced today to over 10 years in federal prison for illegal possession and trafficking of firearms.
The sentencing follows a months-long investigation into the sale of 20 firearms in Greensboro.
United States Attorney Sandra J. Hairston of the Middle District of North Carolina announced the sentencing, highlighting the successful prosecution under the new Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, designed to combat illegal firearms trafficking.

According to court records, Dalton sold 20 firearms, including AR-15s, to a confidential informant working with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) between May 2022 and September 2023.
These transactions occurred while Dalton was a convicted felon, making his possession and sale of firearms illegal.
The Honorable William L. Osteen, United States District Judge, sentenced Dalton to 121 months of imprisonment, followed by three years of supervised release.

The investigation was a joint effort by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives and the Greensboro Police Department, with Assistant United States Attorney Nicole DuPré leading the prosecution.
