This type of Russian activity within the Alaska ADIZ is a recurring occurrence and is not considered a threat. The ADIZ is a buffer zone beyond national airspace where aircraft identification is required for national security purposes.
NORAD utilizes a multi-layered defense system, including satellites, radars, and fighter aircraft, to monitor and respond to aircraft activity.
