Luis Rosado, a 28-year-old resident of Winter Park with a long criminal history, has pleaded guilty in federal court to possessing a firearm and ammunition as a convicted felon. The guilty plea comes after a traffic stop in August 2023 led to the discovery of multiple firearms in his vehicle.

According to court documents, Rosado was pulled over for a traffic violation when officers observed a rifle and shotgun on the front passenger seat. A subsequent search revealed a Taurus 9mm semi-automatic pistol in addition to the previously seen weapons.

Rosado has a significant criminal record, with nineteen prior felony convictions. As a convicted felon, he is prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition under federal law. This latest conviction carries a maximum penalty of 15 years in federal prison, with sentencing yet to be scheduled.

In addition to the prison sentence, Rosado has agreed to forfeit the firearms and ammunition found in his possession. These include the Taurus pistol, a Radical Firearm 7.62mm semi-automatic rifle, a Silver Eagle 12-gauge pump-action shotgun, and assorted ammunition.

The case was investigated by the Orlando Police Department with assistance from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). It is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Michael Sartoian.

This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a Department of Justice initiative aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence through collaboration between law enforcement agencies and the communities they serve.
