Nighttime Closures Planned In Pinellas County For I-275 Express Lanes, Gateway Expressway Ramps

PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. – Drivers in Pinellas County should be aware of upcoming nighttime closures on the I-275 Express Lanes and several ramps along the SR 690 (Gateway Expressway) next week.

The closures are scheduled to take place from 11:00 PM to 5:00 AM nightly, Monday, January 13th, through Friday, January 17th, weather permitting.

I-275 Express Lanes

Both northbound and southbound I-275 Express Lanes may be closed during the overnight hours.

  • Detour: Drivers can use the I-275 general use (free) travel lanes.  

Eastbound SR 690 Express Lane Ramp to Northbound I-275

The eastbound SR 690 Express Lane entrance ramp onto northbound I-275 may be closed.

  • Detour: Drivers can use the general use (free) entrance ramp to the right of the Express Lane ramp to access the free lanes of northbound I-275.

Southbound US 19 Exit Ramp onto SR 690

The southbound US 19 exit ramp onto eastbound SR 690 may be closed.

  • Detour: Drivers can exit at Ulmerton Road, go south on Frontage Road, turn left onto eastbound 118th Avenue N, and use the left lane entrance ramp onto eastbound SR 690.  

Westbound SR 690 Exit Ramp onto Northbound US 19

The westbound SR 690 exit ramp onto northbound US 19 may be closed.

  • Detour: Traffic will be directed to exit onto westbound 118th Avenue N, continue west on 118th Avenue N, turn right onto northbound Frontage Road, and then use the entrance ramp onto northbound US 19.  

Drivers are encouraged to plan their routes accordingly and allow extra travel time during these overnight closures. The closures are necessary for ongoing construction and maintenance activities along the I-275 Express Lanes and the Gateway Expressway.
