TAMPA, Fla. – Motorists traveling along Columbus Drive in downtown Tampa should be aware of ongoing nightly road closures. Starting this Sunday, August 18th, and continuing through Thursday, August 22nd, and the following week from August 25th to 29th, Columbus Drive will be closed between Nebraska Avenue and Florida Avenue.
These closures will occur nightly from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., weather permitting.
Detours:
- Eastbound Traffic: Detour north onto Florida Avenue, east onto Floribraska Avenue, and south onto Nebraska Avenue to rejoin Columbus Drive.
- Westbound Traffic: Detour north onto Nebraska Avenue, west onto Floribraska Avenue, and south onto Tampa Street to reconnect with Columbus Drive.
Electronic message boards and signage will be in place to guide drivers. Please exercise caution when navigating through the work zone and be mindful of construction workers.
Reason for Closure:
These temporary closures are necessary for crews to safely conduct overhead construction work associated with the Downtown Tampa Interchange (I-275/I-4) Safety and Operational Improvements project. The project is anticipated to be completed in 2027.
