The National Hurricane Center is closely monitoring two tropical waves in the Atlantic basin with the potential for development in the coming days.
Central Tropical Atlantic
A tropical wave situated over the central Tropical Atlantic is currently producing disorganized showers and thunderstorms. Favorable environmental conditions could lead to gradual development, with the possibility of a tropical depression forming by early next week as it moves westward towards the Lesser Antilles.
The system is expected to continue its westward to west-northwestward track, potentially impacting portions of the eastern and central Caribbean Sea by mid-next week.
- Formation chance through 48 hours: Low, 10 percent.
- Formation chance through 7 days: Medium, 50 percent.

Eastern Tropical Atlantic
Another tropical wave located just off the African coast is also being monitored. The system is currently generating disorganized showers and thunderstorms, and there is a chance for slow development as it moves west-northwest or northwest over the Eastern Tropical Atlantic through the middle portion of next week.
- Formation chance through 48 hours: Low, near 0 percent.
- Formation chance through 7 days: Low, 20 percent.
