Newsom Urges DOJ Investigation Of ‘Shipped Migrants’ As Tweets Remind Him Of What Started It All

In light of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis dispatching 50 illegal immigrants to Martha’s Vineyard, an enclave for the wealthy in Massachusetts, the Twitter account DeSantis War Room reminded social media users what triggered this episode.

On Thursday, DeSantis War Room tweeted the front page of Oct. 19, 2021, New York Post, which trumpeted the headline “Biden’s secret flights.”

As the Post reported 11 months ago, “Planeloads of underage migrants are being flown secretly into suburban New York in an effort by President [Joe] Biden’s administration to quietly resettle them across the region.”

“The charter flights originate in Texas, where the ongoing border crisis has overwhelmed local immigration officials, and have been underway since at least August, according to sources familiar with the matter.’

The paper fighter noted that the immigrants sent from Texas were being unloaded in New Jersey or on Long Island. Records indicated that the Biden administration shipped 2,000 illegal immigrant minors to New York from August 2021 to October 2021. The planes carrying the minors landed between 2 a.m. and 6:30 a.m.

“The clandestine nature of the operation raises questions about how the White House is dealing with a recent surge in unaccompanied minors,” the Post continued, noting U.S. Customs and Border Protection records that indicated during July and August 2021 nearly 38,000 unaccompanied minors were apprehended entering America from Mexico.

Now, New York City Mayor Eric Adams is ready to declare a state of emergency and is demanding federal aid because Texas Gov. Greg Abbott buses about 5,000 illegals there in the past few months.

But it just wasn’t New York.

DeSantis began complaining last November about the Biden administration shipping illegals into Florida with clandestine flights in the wee hours.

DeSantis at the time said he learned about the relocation program from federal agents acting as whistleblowers. It was also then that he vowed to bus illegals to Biden’s home state of Delaware. Later, he added Martha’s Vineyard to the destination list.

That news also drew criticism from other Florida Republicans.

For example, in November 2021, GOP Reps. Daniel Webster, Byron Donalds, and Bill Posey sent Biden a letter demanding information about the secret flights.

“The flights that your administration facilitated in the dead of the night to secretly transport illegal migrants is indefensible and another failed attempt to diminish the severity of the border crisis. Spreading the problem across the United States is not solving the problem and the authorization of these flights directly jeopardizes the health, security, and safety of every American,” they wrote.

“The resettlement of illegal aliens in the State of Florida does not solve any of the consequences of your administration’s open border policy. Purposely keeping Americans in the dark regarding the travels of illegal immigrants risks public safety, wastes taxpayer dollars, and is a grave misstep in the name of justice. The burden of misguided leadership from elected officials should never fall upon the American people,” the lawmakers added.

“Your administration’s gross irresponsibility and mismanagement of this crisis endangers the sovereignty of the United States. The secrets occurring in darkness by officials within your administration must be brought to light.”

Last December DeSantis announced that he had budgeted $8 million “for us to be able to transport people illegally [in the United States] out of the state of Florida.”

“If you sent [the illegal immigrants] to Delaware or Martha’s Vineyard or some of these places,” DeSantis added, “that border would be secure the next day. That border would be secure. Instead, they’re imposing the results of their policy on states like Florida.”

Ultimately, state Republican lawmakers upped that to $12 million, which at the time was part of a budget supported by many left-wing Democrats who now criticize DeSantis for sending illegals to Massachusetts.

But in the interim, Biden has done nothing to slow illegal immigration or ramp up deportations of existing illegals already inside America’s borders.

On Thursday, along with the Post’s October 2021 front page, DeSantis War Room tweeted of the Post’s story, “Looking forward to @GavinNewsom calling on the DOJ to investigate this too, since he suddenly cares so much about illegal aliens being flown to different states.”

That was a reference to Newsom, California’s Democratic governor, demanding that the Justice Department investigate DeSantis for “kidnapping” – for shipping them to one of its wealthiest communities in America to find opportunity amid people who promised to welcome them with open arms.
