LECANTO, Fla. – Veterans in the Lecanto area will soon have greater access to healthcare with the construction of a new, larger Veterans Affairs (VA) outpatient clinic. The James A. Haley Veterans’ Hospital announced the project, which is expected to be completed in Winter 2027.
The new clinic, double the size of the existing facility, will offer a wider range of services, including primary care, mental health, specialty care, and ancillary services. This expansion will reduce the need for local veterans to travel to Tampa for care.

“We know how important this new clinic will be to more than 16,000 Veterans who call the Lecanto area home,” said David Dunning, James A. Haley Veterans’ Hospital Executive Director. “These Veterans will no longer have to drive to Tampa for many services including primary care, mental health, certain specialty care, and ancillary services – we’ll be delivering that care closer to where Veterans live.”
The clinic will be a state-of-the-art, energy-efficient facility that meets the latest environmental and sustainability standards. The project was made possible by the PACT Act, which expanded healthcare and benefits for veterans.
