THONOTOSASSA, Fla. – Commuters in Thonotosassa will encounter improved traffic flow and pedestrian safety at the intersection of US 301 and McIntosh Road, as a new traffic signal, pedestrian crossings, and intersection lighting have been activated.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has announced that the newly installed traffic enhancements are now operational. Drivers are advised to remain vigilant and adjust to the changed traffic patterns as both motorists and pedestrians acclimate to the new signalized intersection.

In addition to the activated signal, crews are preparing to activate flashing beacons over US 301 at Harney Road in the coming weeks. This is part of the ongoing $2.47 million intersection safety improvement project.

The project, aimed at enhancing safety and traffic efficiency in the area, is expected to be completed in the spring of 2025. Drivers and pedestrians are encouraged to exercise caution and follow posted signage while the project progresses.
