Cygnal, a leading private polling firm, released findings from its recent Texas statewide poll of 600 likely voters, conducted from October 26 to 28.
According to pollster John Rogers, the results underscore Texas’s firm Republican alignment, with GOP candidates favored across key races.
Rogers notes that despite national Democratic efforts to flip Texas, “the Lone Star State will remain red—likely more so than in 2020,” attributing this trend partly to new Texan voters who lean toward GOP candidates like Ted Cruz and Donald Trump.

Vice President Kamala Harris’s rally in Houston gained media coverage and funding for Democratic Senate candidate Colin Allred, but polling suggests limited impact on undecided voters, with Harris holding a net unfavorable rating of -11 among swing voters. Below are key findings from Cygnal’s survey:
- Impact of Harris’s Rally: Held just before polling began, Harris’s image remains a challenge for down-ballot Democrats, polling 14 points less favorably than Trump.
- Allred’s Standing in Dallas-Fort Worth: Allred trails by 5% in his home media market, signaling challenges in his Senate bid.
- Top Voter Concerns: A majority (54%) of Texans rank inflation/the economy and illegal immigration as their most critical election issues, with only 10% prioritizing abortion protections.
- Hispanic Voter Priorities: Similar to overall trends, inflation and immigration top the list of concerns.
- News Sources by Age: Social media is the primary news source for Texans under 55, while voters over 55 favor cable news.
Polling Results at a Glance:
- Presidential Race: Trump leads with 51%, Harris at 43%, and 2% undecided.
- Senate Race: Ted Cruz holds 49%, Colin Allred trails at 45%, with Libertarian Ted Brown at 3% and 3% undecided.
- Voting Method: 47% have already voted, with 35% planning early in-person voting.
- Top Issues: Inflation/economy (28%), illegal immigration (26%), threats to democracy (15%), abortion protections (10%).
- Congressional Preferences: Republican candidate (52%) over Democratic candidate (43%).
- Governor Greg Abbott: 49% favorable, 48% unfavorable.
- Senator John Cornyn: 31% unfavorable, 28% favorable, 22% unfamiliar, and 18% neutral.
These numbers indicate continued Republican strength in Texas, with key issues like the economy and border security likely to drive voter turnout.
