New Port Richey Gunfight: Stray Bullet Hits Bystander, Two Arrested

NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. – Two men were arrested Saturday following a shooting incident in New Port Richey that left one person injured.

The New Port Richey Police Department responded to reports of shots fired near Massachusetts Avenue and Congress Street around 10:41 a.m.

According to police, two men, later identified as Santos Gonzalez, 44, and Eugene Grady, 38, were involved in an altercation in the parking lot of a Chevron gas station at 6444 Massachusetts Avenue. During the altercation, both men fired shots at each other.

Although the suspects missed their intended targets, a stray bullet struck a bystander in the lower body. The victim was located across the street in the parking lot of 6502 Massachusetts Avenue and was transported to Bayonet Point Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police quickly apprehended both Gonzalez and Grady.

Gonzalez is charged with second-degree attempted Homicide. Grady faces two counts of second-degree attempted Homicide and one count of shooting into an Occupied Structure.
