A New Jersey woman has been arrested and charged with attempted murder for allegedly stabbing her 4-year-old niece during a family argument in August.
Mabel Campechano was taken into custody on September 23rd, exactly one month after the incident in Paterson, New Jersey. She faces several charges, including attempted first-degree murder, endangering the welfare of a child, and weapons offenses.

On August 23rd, police responded to a home where they found the young victim with stab wounds. The child was hospitalized in stable condition and underwent surgery for injuries to her lung, liver, and diaphragm. Campechano reportedly fled the scene after the incident.
If convicted of attempted murder, Campechano could face up to 20 years in prison. She is currently being held at the Bergen County Jail.
