A 58-year-old New Jersey man has died after being struck by a car at around 10:31 pm on Wednesday in Pinellas County, Florida.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, a Nissan Maxima was traveling eastbound on Gandy Boulevard. 

Troopers say just east of San Fernando Boulevard, the New Jersey man attempted to walk across Gandy Boulevard and was struck by Maxima. 

Investigators say the driver of the Maxima, a 23-year-old Seminole woman, stopped and got out of the vehicle to assist the pedestrian when she was also struck by a Kia Optima traveling eastbound.

The driver of the Kia, a 23-year-old Tampa woman, was not injured during the incident, and the driver of the Nissan suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital. 

The pedestrian, a 58-year-old man from Hopatcong, New Jersey, was transported to an area hospital where he later died from injuries suffered during the crash.
