Like an untamed cancer, President Joe Biden’s border crisis is spreading. On Saturday, the same day that the Biden administration announced a record number of apprehensions of illegal immigrants at the southern border, the Post Millennial reported that New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu seeks to clamp down on illegal immigration in his state.
According to the PM, the Republican governor announced the launch of the Northern Border Alliance Task Force, a gathering of state, county, and local law enforcement officers that will conduct patrols along the state’s border with Canada.
The task force’s mission is to reduce the numbers of crimes and the amount of “illicit activity” in its identified zone, as well as cooperate, on an as-needed basis, with federal authorities in enforcing federal criminal immigration laws.

The task force’s area of operations extends 25 air miles into New Hampshire from the Canadian border.
The state will spend $1.4 million on the initiative.
“The federal government refuses to take action on our northern border,” Sununu said in a statement.
“They cut funding, limited our resources, and have thrown their hands up. Without adequate federal support, the state is stepping up.”
Sununu noted that encounters with people on the terrorist watch list at New Hampshire’s patrolled points of entry from Canada have doubled since 2017.
“This is a stark contrast to what we are seeing on the southern border, where Land Border Port of Entry encounters have decreased during that same time period,” he added.
“In fact, just this year, 85% of all land border encounters with individuals on the terrorist watchlist occurred on the northern border – while only 15% occurred on the southern border. In meeting with local law enforcement up north, it is clear we need more targeted resources.”
At a press conference last week, Sununu noted, “There have been more apprehensions along our northern border in just this past year than in the last ten years combined.”

“We need to provide an all-hands-on-deck approach.”
The governor further noted that his state must act because “no additional efforts” top police the border were coming from Biden or his administration.
The PM reported that along the entire U.S.-Canada border authorities encountered 7,633 people between Oct. 1, 2022, and July 31, 2023.
That more than tripled the 2,238 encounters recorded during the previous 12-month period, and was roughly eight times the 916 encounters reported in 2021.
