A new Netflix docu-series, “Gold & Greed: The Hunt for Fenn’s Treasure,” has inspired a fresh wave of treasure hunting after one of its stars revealed he has hidden his own cache of valuables somewhere in the American West.
The series chronicles the decade-long pursuit of a hidden treasure chest worth $1 million, buried by Forrest Fenn in Yellowstone National Park in 2010. Fenn’s cryptic 24-line poem served as the key to finding the loot, captivating many who dedicated years of their lives to the search.
Justin Posey, featured in the docu-series, was among those captivated by Fenn’s treasure.
Though he didn’t find Fenn’s chest (which was eventually discovered by Jonathan ‘Jack’ Stuef in Wyoming in June 2020), Posey has now launched his own treasure hunt.
Posey has created a website and hinted at clues hidden within the Netflix series itself. In the first episode of “Gold & Greed,” Posey is heard telling a producer off-screen that he has hidden clues in the interview setup within his house.
However, reports indicate that Netflix and the documentary’s creators are uncertain whether these clues made it into the final cut of the series.

Despite this uncertainty, viewers are actively trying to decipher any potential clues. One Reddit user has already created a map based on Posey’s website and perceived clues in the series, suggesting a possible location in Alaska based on the poem “Beyond the Map’s Edge” and its imagery.
Posey’s website details the treasure as a “60-pound treasure” containing precious metals, gemstones, historical artifacts, and more. He lists items such as gold bars, gold flakes, gold dust, emeralds, rubies, amethysts, coins from the Lydian empire (circa 561 BC), and even a Bitcoin wallet linked to book sales.
Posey confirmed on Twitter that the treasure has not yet been found.
He directs interested parties to his website, emphasizing the importance of his poem “Beyond The Map’s Edge” in unlocking the hunt. He encourages people to embark on the adventure, promising excitement and the allure of going “Beyond The Map’s Edge.”

Can you find what lives in time, Flowing through each measured rhyme? Wisdom waits in shadowed sight—For those who read these words just right.
As hope surges, clear and bright, Walk near waters’ silent flight. Round the bend, past the Hole, I wait for you to cast your pole.
In ursa east his realm awaits; His bride stands guard at ancient gates. Her foot of three at twenty degree, Return her face to find the place.
Double arcs on granite bold, Where secrets of the past still hold.Beyond the reach of time’s swift race, Wonder guards this sacred space.
Truth rests not in clever minds, Not in tangled, twisted finds. Like a river’s steady flow—What you seek, you already know.
