As of midday Friday, nearly 1 million Floridians have cast their votes by mail for the upcoming November 5 election, according to data posted on the state Division of Elections website. A total of 990,989 mail-in ballots have been submitted to local election supervisors.

Registered Democrats have returned the largest share of ballots, submitting 423,249 votes, while Republicans have returned 363,899. Independent voters accounted for 184,059 mail-in ballots, and 19,782 were filed by voters affiliated with minor parties.

More than 2.25 million requested vote-by-mail ballots are still outstanding, with 942,318 unreturned ballots from Democrats and 757,339 from Republicans.

In-person early voting is set to begin Monday in about three dozen counties, with statewide early voting starting on October 26. Governor Ron DeSantis has also approved voting-related adjustments in areas affected by Hurricanes Milton and Helene.

These changes allow for the relocation or consolidation of polling sites and make it easier for displaced voters to obtain mail-in ballots.
