Fox News, Newsmax, One America News Network, and Parler are just some examples of conservatives seeking to chart their own path and to be left in peace to associate with kindred spirits, as they were increasingly shut out of the dominant media culture.
Still, that wasn’t good enough. The liberals whacked Parler, and both within the news industry and the halls of Congress, they are driving to be rid of Fox, Newsmax, and OANN.
But MyPillow founder and CEO Mike Lindell, who knows what Cancel Culture can do, is trying the old way.
Lindell recently told conservative activist Charlie Kirk during a podcast that he intends to launch his own social media app within a month to combat Big Tech.
Twitter unceremoniously dumped Lindell for his repeated claims that the 2020 election was rigged against his friend, former President Donald Trump.
Lindell, according to Business Insider, shared with Kirk how he subsequently became persona non grata across platforms for standing by Trump – which even has invited a billion-dollar defamation lawsuit from a voting-machines maker.
Then, retailers began to cut ties – among them, Bed, Bath & Beyond, Sam’s Club, and Kohl’s. Lindell, according to BI, had said the boycotts would cost him $65 million in revenue.
BI also pointed out that Lindell was booted from Twitter, penalized by Google, had videos pulled down from YouTube and Vimeo, and even had his Wikipedia page tweaked.
“They’re suppressing our voices,” Lindell told Kirk.
But he now seeks his revenge on Big Tech’s turf.
“We’re launching this big platform so all the voices of our country can come back and start telling it like it is again,” Lindell told his host, BI noted.
“You will not need YouTube. You won’t need these places,” he continued.
“So it will be where everything can be told because we’ve got to get our voices back. People will be able to talk and not walk on eggshells,” Lindell added.
Lindell added that his platform does not have a name, but could launch in the next five weeks.
