TAMPA, Fla. – The suspect in the shooting murder of a man on Tuesday was arrested and booked on Thursday, according to Tampa Police.

On June 20, 2023, a man was shot and killed in the 800 block of E. Yukon St. The suspect, 60-year-old Carl Bradwell, was arrested on Thursday, June 22, 2023, and charged with one count of First-Degree Murder.

At approximately 6:00 p.m. on the night of the murder, Tampa Police Communications received a call reporting someone had been shot, and that suspect had fled eastbound on his bicycle.

Upon the officer’s arrival, they located the victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Witness statements provided detectives with information that Bradwell was the suspect.

Additionally, detectives were informed that the suspect and victim had been engaged in an argument earlier in the day when the suspect returned to the park and shot the victim.

Through investigative efforts, detectives were able to confirm witness statements and also collected video surveillance of Bradwell leaving the park on his bike after the incident.

“The swift identification and arrest of this suspect is a result of an outstanding investigation and the fact that witnesses stepped up to provide information to detectives,” said Chief Lee Bercaw. “I hope the arrest of this criminal, and the fact that our community came together to aid in the investigation, provides the family with some closure as they navigate the grieving process.”
