Murder-Suicide Investigation Underway In Tampa

TAMPA, Fla. – The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a tragic murder-suicide that unfolded in Tampa over the weekend.

On Friday, November 1st, deputies responded to a missing person report concerning 28-year-old Waleska Gomez Barroeta. The report indicated concerns for her safety.

Through their investigation, detectives learned that Barroeta’s husband, 31-year-old Franklin Vegas Delgado, had contacted a relative and confessed to killing his wife.

Early Saturday morning, detectives located Barroeta’s body inside a vehicle parked at 815 Water Street in downtown Tampa. She was deceased.

Further investigation revealed that Vegas Delgado had abandoned the vehicle and left the parking lot on foot. He was later found at the nearby Tampa Marriott Water Street Hotel with self-inflicted injuries.

“Our hearts go out to the family and loved ones impacted by this heartbreaking tragedy,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “This is an unimaginable loss and a painful reminder that violence is never the answer.”

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating this murder-suicide.
