A number of emergency sytems from mu;ltiple states have reported that their 911 emergency phone lines are down.

The City of Las Vegas, the entire state of South Dakota, and many locations in Nebraska experienced outages, and administrative numbers were provided as backups.

Reports suggest that some areas of Florida, Texas, Iowa, Wisconsin, and Kentucky are also affected. The extent of those outages is unknown at this time.

In Las Vegas, service was restored at around 9:00 pm local time.

“9-1-1 phone service has been restored. All of the individuals who called during the outage have been called back and provided assistance. Non-emergency calls are also working. As always, please do not call 9-1-1 unless you have an emergency,” said LVMPD.

Authorities asked callers not to even test the phone line while they worked to restore service.

Police have asked the public to phone other numbers if they require assistance.

In South Dakota, one county reported that text messages to 911 appeared to be going through.

Others ask that you contact 911 from your mobile device and wait for the service to call you back.

This is a breaking story.
