PLANT CITY, Fla. – A three-vehicle crash on Interstate 4 (SR-400) near Thonotosassa Road in Plant City early Thursday morning has left several people injured.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the incident occurred around 6:08 AM. Three vehicles were traveling westbound on I-4 when traffic came to a stop. The driver of a Hyundai Entourage failed to stop and collided with the rear of a Chevy Tahoe, causing the Tahoe to rotate into the median. The Hyundai then struck the rear of a Chevy Silverado.

The impact sent the Hyundai into the median, where it collided with a guardrail. The Silverado came to rest in the travel lanes.

The occupants of the Hyundai and the Tahoe sustained serious injuries and were transported to local hospitals. The driver of the Silverado suffered minor injuries and was not transported.

The FHP is still working to identify the driver and three passengers in the Hyundai. The occupants of the other vehicles have been identified as:

  • Chevy Tahoe: 35-year-old male driver from Winter Haven, along with three passengers: a 34-year-old female, a 60-year-old female, and a 63-year-old male, all from Winter Haven.
  • Chevy Silverado: 25-year-old female driver from Lakeland.

The FHP is investigating the crash to determine the cause of the initial collision.
