Multi-Vehicle Crash On I-4 Claims Ruskin Man’s Life, Ejects Passenger

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – A tragic multi-vehicle collision on Interstate 4 (I-4) near Tampa resulted in the death of a Ruskin man and injuries to three passengers on Saturday morning, March 15, 2025.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the incident occurred at approximately 7:17 AM, east of the I-275 interchange at Milepost 1.

A 48-year-old Ruskin man was driving a Kia Sedona westbound in the inside lane of I-4. A 21-year-old Parrish man was driving a Nissan Pathfinder westbound in the inside center lane.

The Kia Sedona veered onto the inside shoulder for reasons currently under investigation and collided with an attenuator.

The impact redirected the Kia back into the travel lanes, where it subsequently collided with the Nissan Pathfinder. During the collision, one of the passengers in the Kia Sedona was ejected onto the roadway.

Both vehicles came to a final rest on the outside shoulder of I-4.

The 48-year-old driver of the Kia Sedona suffered fatal injuries at the scene. The 21-year-old driver of the Nissan Pathfinder was unharmed.

Three passengers traveling in the Kia Sedona sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to a local hospital.
