Mulberry Man Caught Red-Handed In Lakeland Burglary

POLK COUNTY, Fla. – A Mulberry man is behind bars after being caught in the act of burglarizing a Lakeland home. 39-year-old Nicholas Anthony Spreen was arrested Thursday night following a confrontation with the homeowner.

The incident occurred around 9:00 PM on Thursday, January 23rd, when the victim arrived home to find Spreen inside her residence. Spreen was holding a crowbar and a bag filled with the victim’s belongings.

When the homeowner informed Spreen that she was calling 911, he reportedly responded, “You don’t want to do that.” Undeterred, the victim proceeded to contact authorities.

Spreen fled the scene before deputies arrived, but he was apprehended a short time later.

He was taken to the Polk County Jail and charged with:

  • Tampering with a Witness
  • Occupied Burglary
  • Possession of Burglary Tools
  • Grand Theft from a Dwelling
  • Tampering with Evidence
