Kyle Rittenhouse is a human Rorschach test.
To liberals, he’s seen as a white supremacist and a vigilante who interjected himself into a situation he had no business being involved in, and it cost two innocent men their lives.
To conservatives, he is viewed as a hero who stood up to defend a community gripped in lawlessness that local authorities allowed to fester and spiral out of control, and was forced to kill two thus in order to save his own life, and perhaps others.
Last week, a jury appeared to agree with the latter, acquitting Rittenhouse of all charges in a murder case filed after he shot and killed two leftists and wounded a third in an August 2020 riot in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
Along those lines, U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene wants Congress to officially recognize the 18-year-old as a hero.
The Georgia Republican on Tuesday introduced a bill to award Rittenhouse the Congressional Gold Medal.
The Congressional Medal of Honor is the highest award Congress can present to a civilian.
The initial text of the bill simply states that the medal is due to Rittenhouse because he “protected the community of Kenosha, Wisconsin, during a Black Lives Matter (BLM) riot on August 25, 2020.”
Greene’s bill has little, if any, chance of succeeding.
The bill must pass both houses of Congress with two-thirds majorities, which is controlled by Democrats who vehemently oppose Second Amendment rights and are heavily invested in the BLM narrative, and be signed by the president, who in this case has already defamed Rittenhouse as a white supremacist.
Still, Greene won’t back away from promoting the teenager as a hero.
On Wednesday, she tweeted a photo of Rittenhouse and his mother meeting with former President Donald Trump.
“Two men I greatly admire along with a mother who has had to endure more than she ever thought she could,” Greene said in the tweet.
“Kyle thanks Pres Trump for two most important things the left is trying to destroy. We must always uphold our Constitution, defend our 2A [Second Amendment], & stop our enemies who hate them.”
