Borrowing a page from Democrats, U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene filed articles of impeachment against President Joe Biden on his second day in office, and she hasn’t stopped since.
Now, the Georgia Republican wants to oust Attorney General Merrick Garland.
Greene announced on Friday that she had filed impeachment articles against Garland following the FBI raid on former President Donald Trump’s estate, Mar-a-Lago.
Greene’s impeachment resolution says Garland “continues to materially endanger the justice system,” and works to “empower President Joe Biden to persecute his political adversaries at will.”
Garland’s personal approval of the search warrant executed against Trump was “a blatant attempt to persecute a political opponent,” the resolution states.
She further alleged that Garland has violated his oath to faithfully enforce U.S. laws, and instead has “overseen a denigration of the principles of out democratic republic by politicizing the Department of Justice, and utilizing the Federal Bureau of Investigation as a Federal police force to punish or intimidate anyone who questions or opposes the current regime.”

Garland, Greene continued, seeks to “silence the voice of millions of citizens” by going after Trump. His role in this episode, she added, ignores Trump’s power to declassify federal documents and thus “engaged in a pattern of conduct that is incompatible with his duties as a civil officer of the United States.”
Garland accordingly has “lost the trust” of his fellow Americans through his “attempt to intimidate, harass, and potentially disqualify a political challenger to President Joseph R. Biden, Jr.”
The FBI raided Trump’s Palm Beach home based on a tip that he stored classified material there, even after his legal team had earlier complied with the Justice Department’s requests for information.
Trump asserts the documents were already declassified.
Garland has routinely drawn the ire of conservatives for allowing the Justice Department to become highly politicized.
