MSNBC has made the decision to yank its inflammatory flagship morning program, “Morning Joe,” off the air Monday in the wake of the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump.
The show will resume on Tuesday.
The attack on Trump took place during a campaign rally in Butler County, Pennsylvania, leaving the former president wounded and two other attendees injured. Tragically, a former volunteer fire chief, Corey Comperatore, was killed in the chaos.
MSNBC made the decision to forgo its regular programming and instead focus on rolling breaking news coverage.

“Given the gravity and complexity of this unfolding story, NBC News, NBC News NOW and MSNBC have remained in rolling breaking news coverage since Saturday evening,” a spokesperson for NBCUniversal News Group said in a statement to CNN. “As we continue to cover this story into the week, the networks will continue to cross simulcast, alternating between NBC News, NBC News NOW and ‘MSNBC Reports,’ so there is one news feed covering this developing situation.”
According to reports, MSNBC’s decision to pull “Morning Joe” from the airwaves was also influenced by concerns that one of the show’s guests might make inappropriate comments about the attack on Trump.
The absence of “Morning Joe” on the first day of the Republican National Convention is a significant departure from the network’s usual programming. The show, co-hosted by former Republican Congressman Joe Scarborough, his wife Mika Brzezinski, Willie Geist, and Jonathan Lemire, is a staple of MSNBC’s morning lineup and is known for its leftist rhetoric.

Scarborough is reportedly one of President Joe Biden’s favorite TV hosts, and has been a vocal critic of former President Trump, going so far as to call him “the most racist president of our lifetime,” and accusing him of being “cognitively impaired.”
