HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – Hillsborough County Fire Rescue worked with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office to rescue an injured mountain biker from the Alafia River State Park Saturday afternoon.
HCFR’s Emergency Dispatch Center received a 911 call at 2:13 PM Saturday from a person reporting a male fell while mountain biking, injuring his leg.
Crews arrived on the scene, stabilized the patient, and determined that the trail was too treacherous to traverse with the patient.

Incident command decided to utilize HCSO’s helicopter to effect the rescue.
One of HCFR’s S.W.A.T. medics, who regularly trains with HCSO, accompanied the patient as he was lifted to safety.
The man was then flown to a nearby landing zone and transferred to an air medical transport, who flew him to a local trauma center in stable condition.
