Earlier this week, Carron Phillips, a columnist for the far-left sports website Deadspin, trashed a small boy, the Kansas City Chiefs and the NFL for allegedly tolerating racism.
The youngster, later identified as Holden Armenta, showed up at the Chiefs game against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday wearing a Chiefs jersey, an Indian headdress, and red and black face paint.
The problem for him was that CBS Sports’ camera crew videoed him from only one side, suggesting he was wearing blackface.

“It takes a lot to disrespect two groups of people at once. But on Sunday afternoon in Las Vegas, a Kansas City Chiefs fan found a way to hate Black people and the Native Americans at the same time,” Phillips ranted in a column on Monday tnat was long on blasting the NFL and the Chiefs for promoting racism, partly by not being aggressive enough in its ubiquitous “End Racism” campaign.
“This is what happens when you ban books, stand against Critical Race Theory, and try to erase centuries of hate. You give future generations the ammunition they need to evolve and recreate racism better than before.”
Yet, it turns out, young Holden is actually Native American.
As reported by Newsmax, the 5-year-old grandfather sits on the board of the Chumash Tribe in Santa Ynez, California.
According to the tribe’s website, the Chumash are native to a territory that once spanned 7,000 square miles, from the beaches of Malibu to Paso Robles, and westward to the edge of the San Joaquin Valley.
Newsmax reported that Holden’s mother, Sharon Armenta, ripped Phillips, Deadspin, and other critics of her son on Facebook.

“This has nothing to do with the NFL. Also, CBS showed him multiple times, and this is the photo people chose to blast to create division. He is Native American – just stop already,” she wrote.
She added later, “Everyone asked to take a photo with him. He’s Native American – people are ridiculous.” In one photo, Holden is posing with four Raiders cheerleaders.
Phillips, who is black, doubled down when responding to the criticism on X (formerly Twitter), although he later deleted his post.
“For the idiots in my mentions who are treating this as some harmless act because the other side of his face was painted red, I could make the argument that it makes it even worse,” he wrote in the post, according to the Post Millennial. “Y’all are the ones who hate Mexicans but wear sombreros on Cinco [de Mayo].”
