The proposed annexation involves 52,450 acres of land currently under Orange County jurisdiction. The company has cited the lack of progress in planning with Orange County as a motivation for the annexation, highlighting the desire for a more unified approach to development.

Doug Rose, president of Farmland Reserve, emphasized the importance of this move for the future of the region, stating that it will enable them to establish a long-term vision for the land while prioritizing the conservation of natural resources.
