Surveillance footage showed Hessing trying to enter the bank, but it was closed on a Saturday. He then fled in a red Chevy Equinox.
Investigators traced the vehicle to Hessing’s residence, located near the bank. A search warrant uncovered a rifle matching the one used in the attempted robbery, along with ammunition.
Hessing faces up to 20 years in federal prison without parole. A sentencing hearing will be scheduled following a presentence investigation.
