With Super Bowl excitement building as the Kansas City Chiefs prepare to face the Philadelphia Eagles on February 9, Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey has issued a warning to fans about potential ticket scams.
Bailey urged Missourians and all fans to stay vigilant when purchasing tickets for the highly anticipated event, emphasizing that fraudsters often take advantage of major sporting events to deceive eager fans.
“With the Chiefs heading to the Super Bowl, I want all Missourians to stay sharp when purchasing their tickets and avoid falling victim to scams,” Bailey stated. “We are here to ensure that anyone who tries to exploit our fans will be held accountable. If you encounter an issue, know that the Attorney General’s Office is here to help.”

The Attorney General’s Office provided several key tips to help consumers protect themselves from fraudulent sellers:
- Know your vendor – Only purchase tickets from trusted and reputable sources before providing any personal or financial information.
- Do your research – Check for complaints about unfamiliar ticket sellers on the Missouri Attorney General’s website or the Better Business Bureau (BBB).
- Use a credit card – Paying with a credit card provides added fraud protection compared to cash, checks, debit cards, or payment apps like Venmo or Cash App.
- Shop on secured sites – Ensure the website URL begins with “https” and look for a closed lock symbol in the browser’s address bar before entering payment details.
- Inspect your tickets – Double-check that event details such as date, time, and location are correct to avoid being denied entry.
Bailey also reminded consumers that if an offer seems too good to be true, it likely is.
Missourians who suspect they have fallen victim to a ticket scam are encouraged to report the incident by calling the Missouri Attorney General’s Consumer Complaint Hotline at 800-392-8222 or visiting ago.mo.gov.
With Super Bowl tickets in high demand, officials warn that scammers will continue to target unsuspecting buyers. Fans are urged to take extra precautions to ensure a safe and secure ticket purchase experience.
