A woman from Mississippi has been arrested and charged with grand theft and passing a counterfeit check after a stolen check worth over $15,000 was traced back to her.
In April 2023, a construction company in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, mailed a check for $15,567 to a vendor. The check was stolen before it reached its intended recipient. The theft was reported to the Walton County Sheriff’s Office in May 2024.
Following an extensive investigation, the Walton County Sheriff’s Office identified 24-year-old Xandria Jenkins of Yazoo, Mississippi, as the person who cashed the stolen check.

Jenkins claimed she received the check from an online acquaintance, cashed it, split the proceeds with the person, and spent the rest.
Jenkins was extradited from Mississippi to Walton County earlier this month to face charges.
The Walton County Sheriff’s Office is collaborating with the US Postal Service to investigate the original theft of the check.
