A former Mississippi babysitter, Makallie Elizabeth Durham, has been sentenced to life imprisonment plus 40 years for the capital murder of a two-year-old child.
Durham pleaded guilty to the charges in September 2024. The toddler’s 11-month-old sibling also suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The court determined that the injuries inflicted on both children were not accidental.
