A missing person case took a dark turn in Myrtle Beach when the remains of Penni Whiteside were discovered buried beneath a fire pit in her own backyard.
Police have arrested her live-in boyfriend, Sheridan Fogle, on murder charges. The grim discovery came after neighbors reported their suspicions to the authorities.
The Horry County Coroner’s office confirmed on August 29, 2024, that the remains of Penni Whiteside, 51, were discovered buried in the yard of her Myrtle Beach home on June 12th. Ms. Whiteside had been missing since the spring of 2022.

Following this grim discovery, Sheridan Dirk Fogle, 54, of Orangeburg, South Carolina, was arrested on Thursday, August 29, 2024, and charged with Murder.
According to the Myrtle Beach Police Department, Whiteside had been living with Fogle at the time of her disappearance. Information from neighbors led investigators to believe that she might be buried in the backyard under a fire pit.
