Minnesota Business Owner Unloads On Tim Walz For Being ‘Complete Dictator’ During COVID-19 Pandemic

Minnesota business owner Greg Urban on Fox News Wednesday criticized Democratic vice presidential candidate Tim Walz for his allegedly tyrannical record during the COVID-19 pandemic as governor of Minnesota.

Walz implemented harsh lockdown measures during the COVID-19 pandemic, establishing a hotline for Minnesotans to report people who violated stay-at-home policies and pushed residents of his state not to gather for Thanksgiving. Urban, on “America Reports,” characterized Walz as an “evil” tyrant for his policies during the COVID-19 pandemic, asserting the vice presidential candidate is farther left than Democratic California Governor Gavin Newsom.

“Walz was a complete dictator through that whole period. Really an evil person, more than a dictator. He actually made it illegal for families to gather for Christmas and Thanksgiving,” Urban said. “Illegal. And so people then, if they saw their neighbor carrying out a turkey leg on Thanksgiving, they could call the tip line, and Walz could dispatch his COVID police to come take them to jail.”

“I heard the comment yesterday that Walz is Gavin Newsom with less hair and wearing flannel. The reality is, Walz, I think, is more radical left than Gavin Newsom,” he added. “He just, in a state of 5 million people, I think it slides under the radar a little bit, but Tim Walz was an absolute dictator, and the idea of minding your own damn business sure did not happen with him.”

Urban closed the Minneapolis location of his business, Wild Greg’s Saloon, because of crime and COVID-19 limitations, in August 2022, Fox News reported.

“There was no road map ahead. Minneapolis was a failed city, and it really hasn’t gotten any better. We’re losing money every single month where every other city came back very quickly from COVID,” Urban said during the appearance. “And you can only lose money so many months in a row as a business owner before you have to pull the pin, and nobody would come downtown Minneapolis, or anywhere in Minneapolis. They were scared because of the crime. A lot of people were getting mugged, their cars stolen, cars broken into. There were no police.”

“You call the police, and unless there’s a murder in progress, they might not even respond or take an hour or two. So it was a very troubling time, and Tim Walz refused to provide any state resources, state police, things other cities, such as maybe Austin, Texas, for example, had some help from the state,” Urban added. “Here in Minnesota, Tim Walz provided no leadership to help Minneapolis.”

Rioters swarmed Minneapolis following George Floyd’s death in 2020, leading to numerous buildings getting burned down and businesses looted, with violence occurring for three days. Walz neglected to immediately send the National Guard into Minneapolis to handle the violence, having previously argued that calling the National Guard would only incite further rioting.
