TAMPA, Fla. – Confidence is certainly something Mike Perry isn’t lacking going into his fight with Jake Paul on Saturday Night in Tampa.
“I’ve been succeeding consistently, and I’ve been getting better every day,” Perry said. “Put this little twerp in his place. He’s new to the game. Welcome. Welcome. You just got here.”
Well, actually, Paul is more experienced in boxing than Perry. Paul is (9-1, 6 KOs) in boxing, whereas Perry is (0-1), but Perry is way more experienced in combat sports.
Paul took this fight on short notice after having Mike Tyson postpone their July 20th boxing match till December. The 27-year-old Paul wanted to stay active, and Perry was more than willing to step in. As a former MMA fighter and now one of the faces of Bare Knuckle Fighting, he says he’s doing this fight for everybody.
“I’m doing it for everybody, for me, for the fans, for BKFC, for MMA,” Perry said. “I believe in myself and my boxing ability. I’m a brawling mug, so I’m ready to get into the ring with Jake and have some fun.”

Paul still plans to fight Tyson in December and would even fight Perry in MMA after this if Perry agrees.
“Yes, let’s go after this,” Paul said. “After I knock him out on Saturday, let’s sign the contract for some MMA. I’ll choke you out too.”
Perry says he’s different from the MMA fighters Paul has faced like Ben Askren, Tyron Woodley, Anderson Silva and Nate Diaz.
“This is my chance to show the world what a real fighter can do in boxing,” Perry said. Those other guys were long past their prime.”
