A Michigan woman faces potential jail time after pleading guilty to impersonating a Board-Certified Behavioral Analyst and providing services to children with autism without the necessary qualifications.
Kimberly Coden, 38, of Berkley, pleaded guilty on Tuesday to multiple felonies, including impersonating a healthcare professional and witness intimidation. Coden falsely presented herself as a Board-Certified Behavioral Analyst (BCBA) while working at Oxford Recovery Center, a facility providing services to children with autism.

Coden also used the stolen certification to gain employment at other healthcare organizations. Additionally, she intimidated a witness via text messages to prevent them from testifying against her.
Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel said, “The treatment of children in need of intensive intervention or services must remain in the hands of certified and licensed professionals. My office will remain vigilant to protect children from unlicensed practitioners who can cause tremendous harm to children due to their lack of specialized training.”

Coden faces potential imprisonment and fines for her crimes. Sentencing is scheduled for December 3rd, and she is currently being held at the Livingston County Jail.
