The water was 53 degrees, and the air temperature was 47.

Trooper Park was the first on the beach, and he sought assistance from a boater near the shore.

They moved to where the kayaker was submerged and clinging to his craft. He was shivering and had started to lose his fine motor skills, according to the police.

A 37-year-old West Olive man was securely lifted into the boat by Trooper Park and the boater.

He informed the trooper that he had spent roughly an hour in the water.
