Miami Teen Sends Bomb Threat To Pinellas County Sheriff’s Instagram

PINELLAS COUNTY – On Monday, detectives with the Miami Police Department arrested 15-year-old Maycol Matute on one count of False Report Concerning Planting a Bomb, Explosive, or Weapon of Mass Destruction.

An investigation began after Matute sent a direct message to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Instagram account stating, “I sent a bomb to your police station”. Pinellas County detectives, working with Miami Police Department detectives, were able to identify Matute as the suspect.

During the investigation, Matute stated he believed law enforcement would not take the threat seriously.

Additionally, on November 16, 2023, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office arrested 16-year-old Bryce Crocker on three counts of Written or Electronic Threats to Conduct a Mass Shooting or Act of Terrorist and Unlawful Use of Two-Way Communication Device after he posted similar threats on a Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Instagram post.

“The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office has zero tolerance for all threats made on social media. We are committed to the safety of all citizens and will investigate all threats to the fullest extent,” said PCSO.
