MONROE COUNTY, Fla.– A 25-year-old Miami man was cited for several fishing violations in the Middle Keys on Wednesday.

Monroe County Sheriff’s Deputy Luis Guiardinu was conducting resource checks near Mile Marker 72 when he encountered Alcides Yasser Gonzalez Cosme, who was found to be in possession of:

  • An illegally harvested porkfish: Porkfish are an ornamental marine species that must be kept alive when harvested, according to Florida law.
  • Four undersized yellowtail snapper: Cosme’s catch did not meet the legal size limit for yellowtail snapper.
