MONROE COUNTY, Fla. – A 26-year-old man from Miami, Florida, was arrested Tuesday evening after discharging a handgun inside a hotel room at the Fairfield Inn in Marathon.
Armando Donamaria was charged with firing a deadly weapon/missile in an occupied dwelling.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call at approximately 6:50 p.m. regarding a gunshot at the hotel. Upon investigation, Donamaria admitted to firing a 9mm handgun at the headboard of the bed in his room.

Donamaria claimed he believed the firearm was unloaded at the time of the incident. He was unable to provide further explanation as to why he discharged the weapon.
There were no reported injuries. Donamaria was taken into custody and transported to the Monroe County Jail.
