A Mexican national with a history of illegal re-entry into the United States has been arrested in San Antonio, Texas.

Jose Guadalupe Deciga-Lopez was apprehended during a vehicle stop in New Braunfels on March 3rd. Immigration records show that Deciga-Lopez has been previously deported to Mexico five times: once in 2014, twice in 2017, again in 2018, and most recently in 2023.

“This arrest highlights our commitment to enforcing immigration laws and protecting our borders,” said Acting U.S. Attorney Margaret Leachman for the Western District of Texas. “Those who repeatedly violate our immigration laws will be prosecuted to the fullest extent.”

If convicted, Deciga-Lopez faces up to 10 years in federal prison and a maximum fine of $250,000.

The case is being investigated by Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) and prosecuted by Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Anne Marie Cordova.
